11/04/2012- Apple and Honey Pork Loin

I like pork and I like apples. I had pork and I had apples. Seems to work well, right? Well, it smelled good, and looked ok and fell apart wonderfully. Honestly though, it didn't taste all that great. I put it on a Grand's Flaky Biscuit with some honey BBQ to give it flavor. The apples and honey didn't do that much for it. I recommend trying it because you must might like it.

It was pretty simple sounding, but I think I made it more complicated than it should be. My pork was actually two put together. I didn't know that until I opened it. So, instead of cutting it in half to have two shorter ones I had two long ones. I followed the directions like it said, but the apples didn't cover the bottom or the top. I also think I put too much cinnamon on.

In the end, it was mushy from the apples and my house smelled like apple cinnamon. Ha, can't complain much about the smell.

This was after it was all cooked and before it was pulled apart/out.

And after it was pulled apart. It literally fell apart as we took it out.

10/31/2012- Candy Corn Fruit and S'mores Bites

We kept power and it wasn’t too bad out, so Hallowe’en was still on! We got together with our neighbours to do a yummy dinner, trick-or-treating and then have some cocoa and dessert. I had seen these on Pinterest and thought the kids would love a fun fruit and dessert. The fruit cups are simple; pineapple, mandarin oranges and whipped topping. Tada! Candy Corn Fruit Cups!

The s’mores bites were alsovery simple. You take a giant marshmallow, dip it in chocolate and roll it in crushed graham crackers. Easy peasy!

9/27/2012 - Crock Pot Applesauce

I absolutely love applesauce and so do Aaron and Noah, so it only made sense to make my own right? It was SO easy. I chopped up a TON (probably 30) apples and made two batches of it. I had several of different kinds of apples mixed in with 5T brown sugar and some lemon juice and a cinnamon stick. I forgot to put in the lemon peel and I actually used too much brown sugar, but it was good.

I really didn't want it to be chunky, something about it just creeps me out, so I asked my ever so wonderful husband to go get me an immersion blender and some Mason Jars. Poor guy had to search high and low at Target for the jars that were there the day before (but weren't when he went) and call me multiple times asking which blender and where to get jars (please excuse the horridly long sentence). Love that man.

I loved putting it all in jars after blending the heck out of it!
